Bonkers for Books-Exploring Books and STEAM Grades K Taught by Ambar Brown Are you bonkers for good books? Then this is the club for you! Each week, Ms. Brown will share some of her favorite books, explore important literacy skills and connect it all to a STEAM project. We will read some exciting titles such as My Mouth is a Volcano, and erupt/build volcanoes, Giraffes Can’t Dance, and make raisins dance, read The Three Little Pigs, and compete a building challenge, and many more. This club will be a fun-filled way for your child to build their reading confidence, vocabulary, creativity, and communication skills. Come see how much fun books can be!
STEMtastic Scientists-Exploring STEM through Stories Grades 1-3 Taught by Nirissa Barbour Do you love science and literature? Hands-on science fun? Then this is the club for you. Each week we will be exploring STEM through exciting books and then completing a hands-on, STEM based project. For example, we will read the Sand Castle Contest, and engineer and test structures to see how they can withstand erosion. We will also read The Marshmallow Incident, and create marshmallow catapults to see who can hit the target. Join us as we read, explore and create through books and science!
Directed Drawing Club Grades 2-5 Taught by Libby Blanton Do you love to draw and create your own works of art? Each week we will create a new mystery drawing! We will do a step by step drawing together, and then have time to add your own creative touches with different art mediums. Students will take home a new creation every week. Join us in this exciting club where you will be encouraged to challenge your drawing potential!
Video Game Club- Scratch Coding Grades 3-5 Taught by Brad Mauro Would you like to apply your understanding of block based coding towards the development of your own video games? If so, all you need to do is bring your imagination and excitement for block coding. We will be utilizing Code.org and/or Scratch to explore and create the world of video game creation. Join us for this unique opportunity to you “game-on”!
