Master Makers Ages: Rising 1st-3rd Graders Director: Suzzette Acree (Lacy 2nd grade teacher) Join Mrs. Acree for an amazingly full week of artmaking! Artists will participate in two daily art projects, utilizing a variety of mixed media including clay, watercolors,drawing, printmaking, collage, oil pastels- just to name a few! Each day we will focus on a new material and new techniques to create masterful works of art inspired by famous artist makers. Swirls & Stars (Vincent van Gogh): Starry Night oil pastels - 3D Sunflowers using Air-Dry Clay; Shapes & Sounds (Wassily Kandinsky): Concentric Circles - Geometric Paper Cutouts; Desert Blooms (Georgia O’Keeffe): large chalk pastels on dark paper - block print gardens; Bold Faces (Pablo Picasso & Frida Kahlo): Tissue paper flowers - cubist self-portraits; Grid Games & Gallery Prep (Piet Mondrian): tape resist art - prep for afternoon gallery walk
Artistic Adventures Ages: Rising 4th - 6th graders Director: Caroline Haw (Lacy Art teacher) Join Ms Haw for an amazingly full week of artmaking! Artists will participate in two daily art projects, utilizing a variety of mixed media including clay, watercolors,drawing, printmaking, collage, oil pastels- just to name a few! Each day we will focus on a new material and new techniques to create masterful works of art inspired by famous artist makers. Each artist will have their own sketchbook and spend the morning exploring and creating through different projects. The afternoon will be a bit more structured, with the artists creating projects such as sculpting and painting Jeff Koons Clay Balloon Animals, experimenting with Pixel Art and creating Invader Inspired Pixel Wall Hangings, exploring Kehinde Wiley self portrait and creating one of yourself, produce a Georgia O’Keeffe inspired flower painting. We will culminate our week of camp with a gallery walk on Friday afternoon.
The Great Stuffie Story Camp Ages: Rising 1st- 3rd graders Director: Deanna Huffines (Lacy 2nd grade teacher) Get ready for a week full of imagination, creativity, and storytelling magic! At The Great Stuffie Story Camp, campers will bring their favorite stuffed animal, action figure, or even a Labubu and turn it into the hero of their very own adventure story. Throughout the week, young authors will explore the art of storytelling by reading inspiring children’s books, dreaming up exciting plots, and designing creative story worlds. Campers will write, illustrate, and build their own original books while learning how to develop characters, settings, and fun storylines. But the adventure doesn’t stop on paper! Campers will: Act out scenes and become their characters through creative drama; Create colorful illustrations, book covers, and story maps; Play story-building games and imagination challenges; Share their stories during fun author spotlight moments; Create simple puppet shows or mini performances starring their stuffies. Each day is filled with opportunities to create, collaborate, and express imagination while building confidence in writing and storytelling.
Grand Finale: At the end of the week, campers will celebrate with a special Author Celebration, where they will share their finished, published books starring their beloved stuffie heroes! Join us for this one-of-a-kind camp where stories come to life and every camper becomes an author!
The Ultimate STEM & Sports Lab Ages: Rising 2nd - Rising 4th Directors: Bailey Bilger and Sarah Young ( Lacy 2nd grade teachers) Get ready for the ultimate summer adventure! Join Ms. Bilger and Ms. Young for a one-of-a-kind camp where STEM meets sports in the most exciting way! Each day is packed with hands-on fun, creativity, and nonstop action your child won’t want to miss. From Maker Monday to Fitness Friday, campers will build, design, experiment, and play their way through an unforgettable week. Think marble runs, robot building, coding games, and water challenges—mixed with obstacle courses, capture the flag, kickball, and more!Every single day brings a new STEM challenge and a new sport activity, keeping kids engaged, active, and having a blast from start to finish.Let your child explore, create, move, and discover—while making new friends and amazing memories along the way!
