Hilburn Academy Fall Clubs 2018
Tuesdays, October 23- December 4, from 3:30-4:45
In this hands-on club students will discover techniques in painting and will learn how to apply the Principles of Design in their own personal works of art. At the beginning of each club students will be taught a new painting technique. Following this mini lesson, they will sketch an idea(s) of choice, make sure the drawing has applied at least 2 or 3 principles, then paint away using their new technique. At the end of the club students will have time to explore their own painting styles. You won’t believe the amazing, creative pieces we will create!

Take One Movie Making
Bring your movie ideas to life as you learn about movie making. Club participants will learn about Stop Motion movies, using whiteboard, legos and other props. Then move on to the big screen using Green Screen technology. Ready, Set, Action!(maximum 10 students)
How cool would it be to build your own edible structures? In this club we will design and build marshmallow towers, jellybean bridges, cookie Eiffle Towers, edible buildings and much more! After we build, we will test our structures through team challenges. Don’t miss out on this awesome opportunity to create and explore edible engineering!
Come learn all about the exciting game of chess! This playful clear-cut game encourages problem solving and analytical skills, positive self-esteem, as well as verbal and memory reasoning. Join the chess club and become a critical thinker as you learn the skills to play this fun, thought provoking game. Whether you are a beginner, an intermediate or an experienced chess player, you will have an amazing time all while sharpening your mind!
Girls in Action
Are you a girl who loves running and food? Then this club is for you, regardless of skill or speed! In this club we will learn skills and strategies to help us meet our running goals, along with ways to keep our minds and bodies healthy. Students will set not only a running goal, but a health goal each week that they will work towards. We will end each session by making and trying healthy snacks. Come join our awesome team of girls!
